Chapter 1

***A Faithful Encounter***

As the snow stained red, Yuki’s body bled from her wound. Sitting in the snow Lillis held her mother’s body, but not a single drop of tear was shed and her face emotionless. Using the last her breath Yuki whispered to her daughter.

Yuki: Lillis, I’m sorry, if only you weren’t who were in this world than I could of raised you normally. I know you’ll be able to understand you own feelings and even if you can’t feel them now one day you will. I love you and I’m sorry for leaving all alone in this world…

Like the blood dripping down her arms her hand fell into the snow and she was forever silenced.

Lillis: Mother, even now as I hold your dying body I still feel nothing but emptiness inside. No matter hard I train my body my heart will never change it will always be empty and emotionless. I can’t go back to the clan they will only execute me, but I’ll watch over, make sure things stay the way you wanted.

(Lillis: I’ve seen sadness everywhere I go but I can never feel it inside. Maybe… no I’m only kidding myself, I’m a heartless being born from darkness, I have no need for feelings; only my power of destruction, I will survive until the very end. Mother…)

Holding the Hikarium, her mother’s sword and family heirloom, Lillis walked through the snow carrying her Yuki’s body as the blood dripped a trail through the snow.

In a rich noble home the master of the house was discussing so business with his unwelcome guest…

Shiro: Do you really think this is enough money? I know you can cough up more, I mean you are a rich noble. So don’t be so cheap, I mean I did just kill a whole family for you. I made sure I didn’t leave anyone behind.

The room was a nice room decorated with wealth as stash of gold collected around the room.

Gozaburo: Youko Shiro top assassin in Demon world, you know you have high price on your head and yet you’re here doing business with me.

Shiro: (smirks) it makes no difference who I work with as long as I get the reward I need.

Gozaburo: You are cunning indeed, but what if I turned you in?

Shiro: I would kill you before you get to do that.

Gozaburo: Oh really? GUARDS SEIZE HIM!!!!

Shiro: Hmm…  I expected as much from you filthy nobles. You call me to do the job and then turn me in for the reward.

Hundreds of guards gathered around as Shiro look for an escape route. A small simple window was spotted on the other side of the room behind Gozaburo. Luckily it was nighttime and he could easily slip out into the darkness, but there were so many guards that he need a distraction.

(Shiro: Only for a second if I can remove their focus off of me I can escape. These nobles are all the same, I will never be caught by filthy noble!!)

Gozaburo: Well of coarse, I have to keep you silenced, this way I can make sure they don’t find out that I order the assassination. Besides the higher ups don’t care whether or not your dead or alive as long as your caught.

Shiro: That’s fine by me but my partner will report you if I don’t come back today so either way nothing good comes out of this deal.

Gozaburo: Don’t bluff, since when did you get a partner? I’m not going to fall for that one.

Shiro: believe what you like, it’s not my problem when you explaining this to others.

(Shiro: They are as gullible as ever, but in desperate time most would believe anything)

With a frustrated look on his face Gozaburo turned to give a command to his guards but before any words came out, Shiro was already on the move cutting down guard with his Serpent Blade. He leap over Gozaburo and the remaining guards and slipped out in to the night.

Gozaburo: AAHHHGHH!!! I WAS DECIEVED!!! AFTER HIM DON’T LET HIM ESCAPE!!!!!!!!!

Lillis wondered through the dark lifeless streets,  as a drop of rain splashed onto the ground in front of her, more followed. Looking for shelter from the rain only a dim lantern shun from an inn nearby, with no other choice Lillis walked into the inn. Her black cloak was dripping wet from the rain and her hood was pulled down. The inn wasn’t any special and was apparently a gather spot for criminals. To avoid drawing attention to herself she seated herself down at a cornered table and listen in for information.

(Lillis: It’s only been a year since mother died and already so much has happen. So many noble families have been killed and towns are all falling apart. Could it be the doing of someone here?)

Out in the rain, Shiro ran through the dark until he spotted the faint light in the distance. He was familiar with the place, it was the inn where he comes often to exchange information. He casually walked in and sat down at one of the cornered table, the same one Lillis was at. In the distance the guards frantically searched for him as they spotted the inn.

Guards: I saw him come this! He should be close by look around.

(Lillis: I’m curious to what the ruckus is about, nobles are all extremists, this is why it’s never peaceful. Bet whoever they’re looking for is in here.)

Captain: What an obvious place to hide, Youko Shiro, do you have anything to say?

With a blink of an eye the table was surrounded and the place was filled with guards. Demons were rushing out before getting involved in any mess. In seconds only the guards, Shiro, and Lillis were left.

Captain: You won’t get away this time so I think it would be best if you just cooperate  and come with us, I’m pretty sure master has a nice surprise for you.

(Lillis: master? From the look of their uniform they should be Gozaburo’s men. From the information I’ve heard he’s been gaining a lot of power due to the massacre of many noble families. He doesn’t seen like the type to be specially tracking down any demon, could this guy be involved? Guess I’ll save him and find out, how troublesome.)

As the guards closed in on them Lillis abruptly stood up. Her hood was pulled down so they couldn’t see her face but they could feel the dangerous aura surrounding her.

Captain: hmm…Is this you partner?

Lillis: His partner? I believe your mistaken, I just happen to be sitting here before you bombarded in. Are always assuming things as you see?  You noble underlings are just like your master, manner less and rude as ever doing as you please in public and ruining peaceful life in town.

Captain: From you tone it seems like you would be siding with him then? I would watch what you say or I’ll arrest you along with him for insulting my master!!

Lillis: Rude and arrogant, I have no interest in noble business, ones who think they can do as they please and abuse their power. Demons like him disgust me.

Shiro: it seems we have similar opinion

Captain: Arrest them!!

In a heartbeat Lillis kicked the table through the guards making a pathway and crashing through the wall.

Lillis: please don’t think I’m doing this for you. I just hate them more than I hate you, of coarse whether you take up my offer or not is completely up to you. So what are you going to do?

Shiro: I think I’ll take that offer, besides what could be more worse than to end in he hands of a noble. Though getting saved by a stranger is surprising.

The guards were all surprised and with that Lillis and Shiro leaped out into the darkness again. The rain had stopped and a light fog has formed into the night.
